Rebuilding Bishop Stang High School's Digital Home from the Ground Up.

One Navigation System, Managed in One Place

The old Edlio site's navigation, staff directory, and event calendar were scattered and manually maintained. We built a custom header and footer that share the same WordPress navigation data — so when staff update a menu once, it updates everywhere, with a fullscreen mobile overlay that makes the entire school easy to explore from a phone.

Purpose-Built Systems, Not Plugin Bloat

Rather than stacking generic plugins on top of each other, we built seven custom WordPress tools tailored to exactly how a school operates: a searchable staff directory with department and alumni badges, a mobile-first events system that replaced a clunky calendar grid, homepage content carousels, and more — each manageable by non-technical staff through simple shortcodes.

The Overview

Bishop Stang High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory high school (grades 9-12) in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, serving roughly 500 students from 30+ communities across southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Capital House Media rebuilt their entire web presence from the ground up on WordPress and Divi 5, replacing a legacy Edlio platform with a fast, modern site built for how the school actually operates.

The Challenge

Bishop Stang's Edlio-based site had accumulated years of technical debt: a dated design, a clunky full-month calendar grid that was hard to use on mobile, no real staff directory, and dozens of static resource pages with hundreds of inconsistently organized PDFs. Complicating the rebuild, the same domain handled Google Workspace email, tuition billing through FACTS/RenWeb, and college counseling through Scoir — meaning a careless DNS migration risked breaking the school's email and financial systems, not just its website.

The Results

The site launched at bishopstang.org on WP Engine with every navigation, events, and staff system fully dynamic and staff-manageable, a full academic year of event data pre-loaded, and over 60 legacy documents migrated with every internal link updated.

The most consequential moment came at go-live: migrating DNS away from Edlio's nameservers while the same domain handled the school's email and third-party financial and counseling platforms. By reclaiming DNS control first, restoring every email and authentication record before touching the site's own routing, and verifying each step with global propagation checks before moving to the next, the new site went live with zero minutes of email downtime and no disruption to any third-party integration.
