Building a Mission-Driven Digital Home for the Bishstrong Foundation.

A Custom WordPress Plugin Ecosystem
Rather than relying on off-the-shelf themes and page builder widgets, we built a suite of custom WordPress plugins purpose-built for the foundation's needs. This included a fixed navigation header with a full-screen hamburger overlay, a hero slideshow with auto-advancing slides and a thumbnail strip, a custom Events post type with upcoming and past event management, and a styled footer with social integration and auto-updating copyright. Every plugin was engineered to work within Divi 5 without conflicts.

Grant Application & Contact Infrastructure
We built out the foundation's two primary conversion points — a multi-section grant application form and a contact page — using Contact Form 7 with fully custom CSS styling to match the site's Montserrat-driven aesthetic. The grant form covers six sections including personal information, injury details, financial background, equipment requests, vendor estimates, and applicant story. Both forms include animated success states and auto-reply email confirmations to applicants.
The Overview
The Bishstrong Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, founded by DJ Bishop — a C4 quadriplegic — to provide adaptive equipment grants to individuals living with spinal cord injuries and paralysis. Capital House Media was brought in to rebuild their entire web presence from the ground up on WordPress and Divi 5.
The Challenge
The foundation needed a professional, mission-driven website that could support grant applications, event management, and donor engagement — all built to be fully editable by a non-technical team after handoff. The site also needed to reflect the strength and energy of the Bishstrong brand while being accessible and conversion-focused.
The Results
We delivered a complete WordPress web presence built on a custom plugin architecture that keeps the codebase clean and the client experience simple. The site launched in June 2026 with a full homepage hero slider, grant application workflow, events system with upcoming and past event tracking, DJ's Story about page, contact page, and a styled footer — all on brand and fully responsive. The foundation's team can now manage events, update grant information, and track inquiries without touching code. The site went live indexed and ready for SEO, with WP Mail SMTP configured for reliable form delivery.
